If someone tells you they are being abused...
Believe them.
Listen without judgment.
Respect their decisions.
Help them create a safety plan.
Stay connected.
Your support may save their life.
Across America, survivors have courageously shared their stories to expose the realities of domestic violence, stalking, coercive control, and failures within the justice system. Their voices have inspired conversations, policy changes, stronger protections, and greater public awareness.
One powerful example is the ABC News Studios documentary "Stalking Samantha: 13 Years of Terror," which follows Samantha Stites' years-long experience with stalking and kidnapping, highlighting the importance of taking victims seriously and intervening before violence escalates.
The founder of The Great Change also created this resource center after experiencing domestic violence firsthand. Living through abuse, navigating the legal system, and witnessing both the strengths and shortcomings of available resources inspired a commitment to helping others find information, support, hope, and practical tools in one trusted place. No survivor's journey is exactly the same, but every story deserves to be heard, every victim deserves to be believed, and every person deserves the chance to live safely.
Education saves lives. Awareness saves lives. Speaking up saves lives.
Together, we can create meaningful change.
Our mission is simple.
Educate.
Empower.
Protect.
Advocate.
Support.
We believe that knowledge changes lives, compassion strengthens communities, and justice creates a safer future for everyone.
No one deserves abuse.
No one should face it alone.
Together, we become The Great Change.
